Birchbox January 2019

Happy new year! This month's Birchbox is themed "shake your pom poms" to shake some cheer into the new year. the bright and colorful theme sparks joy, and comes with 5 products and an extra treat for the January blues! 

PomPom Hair Ties

The first product I want to start off with is the extra treat, to match the theme of this months box, two cute little hair ties with little pompoms on them. I have already used them and what's not to love about cute little pom poms.

Cle Cosmetics Essence Moonlighter

This is probably my most favorite product in the whole box. rather than a blinding highlight, the pearl powder creates a luminescent look, for a moonbeam glow. this is a liquid product but comes infused in a sponge accompanied by a puff applicator, though I recommend using your fingers to apply directly from the sponge.

Doucce Punk Volume Mascara

Handbag and travel sized makeup is always a plus for me. This mascara has a wonderfully bushy applicator for creating dramatic volume. The mascara was nice and black and the formula wasn't clumpy, which tends to happen more often with full sized mascaras.

Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo

Should I be offended this was in my box this month? it seems everyone found an itchy scalp shampoo in their box this month. for anyone familiar with the array of subscription boxes, or luxury advent calendars out there, Philip Kingsley is most definitely a brand you would have come across already. Although the travel size products are quite handy and do the job rather well, I wouldn't say they are spectacular enough to justify the hefty price tag of a full size.

Dr Botanicals Cleansing Bar

 With a variation of 3 different cleansing bars, im glad i found the Pomagranate cleaning bar in my box. This bar not only smells amazing, but is super cute and pink, and full size! it is made of natural incredients and gentle enough to be used on both body and face. lather up between your fingers and massage into skin to cleanse and exfoliate.

Afterspa Facial Micro Scrubber
Very similar to the daily concepts facial scrubber, this mini facial scrubber has an exfoliating side, and a toweled side with a slot for your fingers and a cushion inside. I love facial cleansers, and I use them to go in deeper with my morning cleansers to really exfoliate and remove the dirt that builds up, and then pat down with the towel side.
